Indian Air Force MiG-21 Crash

An Indian Air Force MiG-21 crashed into a house at Bahlol Nagar in the Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan shortly after taking off from Suratgarh on a routine training sortie. The Indian Air Force said the pilot encountered an onboard emergency and ejected, sustaining minor injuries. Local authorities reported that three people on the ground were killed when the aircraft struck the dwelling and burned, and a court of inquiry was ordered. The accident added to a long attrition record for the type, which by 2023 equipped only a handful of remaining Indian squadrons awaiting replacement by newer fighters.
