Turkish Air Force F-16 Block 70 Ordered

Turkey signed the Letter of Offer and Acceptance for 40 new F-16C/D Block 70 fighters and 79 F-16V modernisation kits for its Block 40 and Block 50+ aircraft, the US Department of State announced on 6 June 2024, calling it a major step forward for the programme. The package was valued at about 23 billion US dollars including related equipment, spares, training and support, plus weapons. Turkey's F-16 fleet then comprised 174 single-seat C and 58 two-seat D models, Janes noted. The Aviationist reported in November 2024 that Turkey subsequently dropped the upgrade kits in favour of its domestic ÖZGÜR modernisation programme while keeping the order for 40 new aircraft.
