Description
Poland signed a Foreign Military Sales agreement with the United States in Warsaw on 13 August 2024 for 96 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, worth about 10 billion US dollars, the largest purchase of Western-built helicopters in the country's history. The package includes 1,844 Hellfire missiles, 460 Joint Air-to-Ground Missiles and 508 Stinger missiles, and will make Poland the second-largest Apache operator after the United States. The helicopters will replace Soviet-era Mi-24 and Mi-2 types with the 1st Aviation Brigade at Inowrocław. Poland's deputy prime minister and defence minister called the signing a milestone in equipping the Polish armed forces after Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
