Description
The Philippine Air Force formally retired its OV-10 Bronco fleet, ending a service career that spanned decades of counter-insurgency operations against communist and Islamist armed groups. The Bronco had been the backbone of Philippine close air support, notably during the 2017 Battle of Marawi, valued for its long loiter time and ability to operate from austere strips. Its role passes to the A-29B Super Tucano and the FA-50PH light combat aircraft, both acquired to provide precision strike capability the ageing Broncos could not deliver.
