Japan Air Self-Defence Force C-1 Retired

The Japan Air Self-Defence Force ended C-1 operations in March 2025, Scramble reported. The last four airframes were stood down over three consecutive days: a C-1 flew to Hamamatsu for a farewell on 12 March, the EC-1 electronic-warfare trainer made its last flight from Iruma on 13 March, and on 14 March the C-1FTB test aircraft at Gifu and prototype 002, painted in a commemorative Phoenix livery, completed their final flights, concluding 53 years of service. Kawasaki built 31 C-1s for three transport squadrons; the type has been replaced by the Kawasaki C-2.
