Mali Air Force Bayraktar Akıncı Shot down

A Malian Bayraktar Akıncı was lost near Tinzaouaten, on Mali's northern border with Algeria, overnight on 31 March–1 April 2025. Algeria's defence ministry said its air defences shot the drone down after it entered Algerian airspace, the first foreign drone downed by the Algerian military, according to Military Africa. The Azawad Liberation Front also claimed to have brought it down, and videos showed the aircraft falling in flames, with Roketsan MAM-T munitions and TEBER guidance kits photographed near the wreckage, Menadefense reported. Mali's government attributed the loss to a technical failure. The incident triggered a diplomatic crisis between Bamako and Algiers.
