Description
A Myanmar Air Force Mi-17 came down near Shwegu in Kachin State on 20 May 2025 while, according to The War Zone, delivering supplies and reinforcements to a military position at Bhamo. The Kachin Independence Army said its troops had hit the hovering helicopter with a first-person-view drone near an infantry battalion headquarters, and released footage showing a drone approaching the aircraft and a small explosion near its rotor. Myanmar's military said on state television that the helicopter crashed because of a technical fault. All aboard were killed, according to the reports; Myanmar Now put the number of dead found at the site at 18.
