Description
Iraq received its first two H225M Caracal medium helicopters from Airbus on 2 May 2025, handed over to the Ministry of Defence in Baghdad, The Defense Post reported. The aircraft were expected to enter service in June with Army Aviation, which is replacing its older Mi-17 transports. The Defense Post described the purchase as a 14-helicopter deal signed in 2024, with six more airframes planned between June and October 2025 and the final batch in early 2026; the order had been announced in September 2024 as twelve aircraft. The Caracals were also bought to bolster Iraq's air arm following the withdrawal of US troops, the outlet said.
