Indian Army Aviation AH-64E Delivered

The first three AH-64E Apache attack helicopters for the Indian Army arrived at Air Force Station Hindon, near New Delhi, on 22 July 2025 aboard an Antonov An-124 freighter. They are the first batch of six ordered in February 2020 and are assigned to 451 Army Aviation Squadron, formed in 2024 at Nagtalao Army Aviation Base north of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, facing the western border. The defence minister said the helicopters would enhance the Army Aviation wing's effectiveness in challenging terrain. The Indian Air Force already operates its own AH-64E fleet; the Army's second batch of three followed in December 2025.
