Description
The refuelling boom of a United States Air Force Boeing KC-46 Pegasus detached in flight over the Atlantic Ocean. The aircraft made an emergency landing at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, and was substantially damaged. The incident added to a long list of technical problems on the KC-46 programme, which has been beset by boom and remote vision system deficiencies since first delivery, and it came shortly before the Air Force halted deliveries over the discovery of structural cracks.
