Description
The 451st Flying Training Squadron flew its final T-1A Jayhawk to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, ending T-1A operations for the squadron and the 479th Flying Training Group at NAS Pensacola. Undergraduate Combat Systems Officer training moves to a simulator-only syllabus. The retirement forms part of a wider Air Force drawdown of the Beechjet-derived trainer: of 177 aircraft in service in 2023, 75 were withdrawn during 2024 and a further 53 were slated for retirement across 2025. The T-1A had served as the tanker and transport track trainer since 1992.
