Pakistan Army Mi-8/17/171 Crash

A Pakistan Army Mi-17 helicopter crashed near Hudor village, about 12 km from Thakdas cantonment in Diamer district near Chilas, Gilgit-Baltistan, on 1 September 2025. The Diamer police chief said the helicopter was conducting a test landing on a newly proposed helipad when it came down; the military's media wing, ISPR, said it was on a routine training flight when it developed a technical fault and crashed. Five crew members were killed, according to ISPR: two pilots, a flight engineer and two crew chiefs. The nature of the malfunction was not specified.
