Description
The Polish Air Force officially retired the Sukhoi Su-22 on 11 September 2025, ending more than four decades of service and the last Sukhoi fighter-bomber operations within NATO. The final 12 Su-22M4 single-seaters and six Su-22UM3K two-seaters were flown by the 40th Tactical Air Squadron of the 21st Tactical Air Base at Świdwin, which staged a farewell ceremony and formation flypast the following day. Poland received 110 Fitters from 1984, a fleet cut to 48 airframes in 2005 and 32 by 2012. The strike mission passes to the F-16C/D and FA-50, with the F-35A now arriving.
