Description
A Bell UH-1H Super Huey of the Philippine Air Force crashed on its way to conduct disaster reconnaissance in the aftermath of Typhoon Kalmaegi, at Loreto in Agusan del Sur, killing six people. The Philippine Air Force relies heavily on its Huey fleet for humanitarian response, and typhoon reconnaissance flights routinely operate in marginal weather over mountainous and forested terrain. The type has long been slated for replacement by S-70i Black Hawks, deliveries of which have expanded the fleet since 2020.
