Description
A Ukrainian Air Force Mi-24 attack helicopter was destroyed on the ground at Mala Vyska Airfield in Kirovohrad Oblast on the night of 23 January 2026 by Russian Geran-2 (Shahed-136) loitering munitions equipped with optical cameras. A second helicopter β an Mi-8 β was also damaged in the same strike. The attack was part of Russia's sustained drone campaign against Ukrainian rear-area airfields and logistics infrastructure. Mala Vyska Airfield, located approximately 200 km southeast of Kyiv, had been used by the Ukrainian Air Force for helicopter operations. The loss of the Mi-24 was confirmed by Ukrainian open-source analysts and documented in the running Wikipedia list of aviation losses during the Russo-Ukrainian War.
