Libyan National Army Mi-8 Crash

A Mi-17 helicopter of the Libyan Armed Forces crashed shortly before landing at Maaten al-Sarra Air Base in southeastern Libya on February 9 during a medical evacuation mission. The helicopter had departed Kufra to evacuate a soldier injured in a traffic accident. All five occupants were killed, including two military transport personnel, a nurse from Kufra hospital, and two foreign nationals serving as pilot and co-pilot. The base is approximately 300 km from Kufra. The cause remains under investigation.
