United States Air Force MQ-9 Reaper Shot down

Iranian forces shot down two MQ-9 Reapers over Isfahan on 31 March 2026 using the AD-08 Majid, a domestically produced short-range system designed for low-altitude engagements. The double loss underlined a recurring problem for Reaper operations over Iran: the aircraft's endurance and sensor performance depend on predictable medium-altitude orbits, which left it exposed to point-defence systems positioned around the facilities it was watching. Isfahan had already accounted for several Reapers earlier in March.
