Description
An Iranian ballistic missile attack on Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait on 29 May 2026 destroyed an MQ-9 Reaper on the ground and damaged a second, wounding five US soldiers and contractors. Ali Al Salem was among the most frequently targeted US installations in the Gulf during the war, having already lost a CH-53E Super Stallion and an Italian Air Force Reaper to earlier strikes. Iran used attacks on Gulf basing to impose costs on US air operations it could not reach over Iranian territory.
