Description
Iranian forces shot down a US MQ-1 unmanned aircraft over international waters on 30 May 2026, US Central Command reported, without disclosing the variant. The Air Force retired its MQ-1 Predators in 2018; the MQ-1C Gray Eagle, a larger Predator derivative flown by the Army, including its special operations forces, is the MQ-1 variant still in US service, so the loss is recorded against it, although some reports described the aircraft as a Predator. The shootdown came as the campaign strained the American unmanned fleet, after two dozen MQ-9 Reapers had been lost in three months.
