Description
The Taliban Defence Ministry said an Islamic Emirate Air Force Mi-17 was damaged when a rotor blade struck an electricity pole while landing at Nusay, Darwaz-e Bala district, Badakhshan province, on 13 August, with no injuries reported. The incident occurred amid fighting in the district between Taliban forces and fighters loyal to dissident commander Juma Khan Fateh. An unverified account cited by Afghanistan International said the helicopter was shot down while resupplying troops, with some reports alleging everyone aboard was killed; that claim could not be independently confirmed and was disputed by the ministry.
