Description
A Ka-52 attack helicopter was destroyed in a Ukrainian long-range drone strike on the military helicopter parking area at Sochi International Airport, in Krasnodar Krai, on 4 September 2026. Satellite and visual imagery reviewed after the attack showed the aircraft burnt out on the apron, alongside a destroyed Mi-28 and a damaged Mi-8. Ukrainian sources attributed the raid to FP-1 long-range strike drones, which the same night also destroyed storage tanks at the nearby BATO fuel depot and struck a long-range surface-to-air missile position outside the city. Russian authorities have not commented on the aircraft losses. The apron had been targeted before, notably in October 2023.
