Description
The IRGC said early on 15 September 2026 that a new air defence system of its Aerospace Force had destroyed a US MQ-1 drone west of the Strait of Hormuz, its second such claim in two days. The variant was not disclosed. The US Air Force retired its MQ-1 Predators in 2018, and the Army's MQ-1C Gray Eagle is the MQ-1 variant still in US service, so the loss is recorded against it. US officials told CBS News two days later that at least two MQ-1s had been lost to Iranian fire in recent days.
