Description
The 33rd Air Base is a Polish Air Force installation located near Powidz. It was established in January 2000 as the 21st Air Base, replacing the 7th Bomber-Reconnaissance Aviation Regiment. The facility was redesignated to its current name in January 2001. In 2010, the 2nd Airlift Squadron was disbanded and its units were incorporated into the base.
The base operates within the Polish Air Force structure as part of the air transport command. It serves as a station for transport units and functions as a depot and storage site for United States Army combat vehicles.
Infrastructure at the installation includes a bulk fuel storage facility and a railhead with an associated rail extension. The base site includes approximately 38 hectares of land utilized for military storage and logistics. These facilities support the storage of combat vehicles and logistical throughput for both Polish and NATO forces.
