Description
Leźnica Wielka Air Base, also referred to as Łęczyca, is an active military airfield in Poland operated by Polish Army Aviation. The installation originates from a World War II-era aviation strip located near Krzepocinek. Historically, the base housed the 7 Eskadra Lotnictwa Taktycznego prior to the unit's disbandment.
Currently, Leźnica Wielka hosts subordinate units of the 25 Brygada Kawalerii Powietrznej (25th Air Cavalry Brigade), which maintains its primary headquarters separately at Tomaszów Mazowiecki/Nowy Glinnik. The resident units at Leźnica Wielka include the 1 Batalion Kawalerii Powietrznej and the 1 Dywizjon Lotniczy (JW 4395). The 1 Dywizjon Lotniczy conducts rotary-wing operations at the installation, flying Mi-17 Hip-H and W-3 Sokol helicopters.
