Description
Air Force Station Port Elizabeth is a South African Air Force facility located in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa. Situated on the north-eastern side of the main runway at Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport, the installation was downgraded from an Air Force Base in the early 1990s.
The facility hosts C Flight of 15 Squadron, which operates BK 117 helicopters configured for maritime and landward search and rescue operations. It is also the home of 108 Squadron, a Territorial Reserve Squadron operating civil light aircraft in a utility transport role. Additionally, the airport site contains the Port Elizabeth branch of the South African Air Force Museum.
