Camp Arifjan

Camp Arifjan is a United States Army installation located south of Kuwait City, Kuwait, west of the Shuaiba Port and Kuwait Naval Base. The Kuwaiti government funded and constructed the facility, with building operations commencing in July 1999. The U.S. Army initiated the base's development to replace Camp Doha with an installation offering greater protection following the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia.

The base accommodates elements of the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, alongside forward-deployed military personnel from the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Romania, and Poland. It operates as a forward logistics base, a helicopter ground support base, and a motor pool for armored and unarmored vehicles. The facility conducts up-armoring for U.S. military vehicles deployed to U.S. Central Command and processes transit for service members and contractors moving through Southwest Asia. Stationed units include the 1st Theater Sustainment Command, the 369th Sustainment Brigade (Task Force Hellfighter), Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Forward Groups Hotel-Papa, and Navy Customs Battalions Oscar-Tango. The installation is staffed primarily by U.S. Army contractors and houses approximately 9,000 personnel.

Camp Arifjan is divided into seven zones. The installation infrastructure includes permanent barracks, hundreds of transitional Pre-Fabricated Concrete Buildings, dining facilities, and base exchanges. Aviation operations occur at Patton Army Heliport, located within the camp boundaries. The heliport functions as the Aviation Classification and Repair Activity Depot for the Southwest Asian Theater. Army National Guard elements operate the airfield, providing organizational, intermediate, and limited depot maintenance support for regional military aviation assets.
