Description
Copalar 17th Air Force Base is located south of San Antonio Copalar and southeast of Comitán de Domínguez, Chiapas, Mexico. Formerly designated as Comitán National Airport, the facility transitioned from civil to military use following the termination of commercial aviation services in August 2003.
The base occupies a 4.91 square kilometer site shared with the 39th Military Zone and the 91st Infantry Battalion. Infrastructure at the installation includes three aviation aprons and a taxiway system. This taxiway, which connects the main runway to the secondary and tertiary aprons, was formerly a secondary runway.
