Description
Tapachula Naval Air Base is a joint military and civil facility located within Tapachula International Airport in Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico, near the Mexico–Guatemala border. The military installation is operated by Mexican Naval Aviation.
The base hosts the 4th Naval Patrol Air Squadron, which operates Mil Mi-17 (Mi-17 Hip-H) helicopters. It also houses the 4th Naval Air Mobility, Observation, and Transport Squadron, which operates Maule MX-7 and Lancair ES aircraft.
The naval facility is positioned near the threshold of runway 23. Dedicated military infrastructure at the site comprises a 10,000-square-metre apron, one heliport, and three hangars.
