Danilo Atienza Air Base (Sangley Point Air Base)

Danilo Atienza Air Base is a Philippine Air Force installation located on the northern end of the Cavite Peninsula in Manila Bay, adjacent to Cavite City in Cavite Province.

Established in March 1945 as U.S. Naval Station Sangley Point, the facility was turned over to the Armed Forces of the Philippines on September 1, 1971, and renamed Sangley Point Air Base for joint operation by the Philippine Navy and Philippine Air Force. During the December 1989 Philippine coup attempt, rebel military personnel seized the base. Loyalist forces conducted strikes using F-5A aircraft, destroying several T-28 combat aircraft controlled by the rebel forces. In 1992, the installation was renamed Major Danilo Atienza Air Base in honor of Major Danilo Atienza, who led the air strikes against the occupied base.

The base is operated by the Philippine Air Force and hosts the 15th Strike Wing, 451st Supply Squadron, 570th Composite Tactical Wing, and 1308th Dental Dispensary. Hosted Philippine Navy units include the MF-30 and MF-40 Squadrons, along with the Naval Air School Center.
