Description
Gromovo is an airbase of the Russian Aerospace Forces located at Gromovo, Leningrad Oblast, Russia. It is owned by the Ministry of Defence and operated by the Russian Aerospace Forces, controlled by the 6th Air and Air Defence Forces Army. The base has been in use since 1953. Historically, it was home to the 180th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Leningrad Special Air Defence Army and subsequently the 6th Independent Air Defence Army between 1953 and 2002. The Mikoyan MiG-31 was received at the base in 1988. Currently, the 33rd Independent Transport Composite Aviation Regiment is stationed at Gromovo.
