Description
King Abdullah Air Base is located 19 kilometers north of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It shares an airfield with King Abdulaziz International Airport, which opened in 1981.
The Royal Saudi Air Force operates the base, which serves as the home station for the 8th Wing. Stationed units include the Number 4, Number 16, and Number 20 squadrons. These units operate Lockheed C-130 Hercules aircraft.
Infrastructure at the facility includes three parallel runways and an air traffic control tower. The base includes support services buildings and the General Authority of Civil Aviation hangar at Building 364. The site also features an automated people mover system and connects to the Haramain High Speed Railway via the Airport–Jeddah station.
