Description
Rivolto Air Base is located in Codroipo, in the province of Udine, Italy. The facility was established following the Italian Royal Decree N. 2207 of 1923. It is operated by the Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare) and is classified as a Main Operating Base (MOB), used exclusively for military operations.
The base hosts the 2nd Wing and the 313th Acrobatic Training Group, which operates the Frecce Tricolori national aerobatic team. Historically, the facility housed the 14th Group, which operated AMX International AMX fighter-bombers until 2004.
Current operations include serving as a national missile hub, a role assigned to the base in 2011. Infrastructure includes a meteorological station operated by the Air Force Meteorological Service, which is a member of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Since 2016, the base has also served as a support location for night flight operations conducted by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Transplant Center and the Integrated University Hospital of Udine.
