A drone was shot down over the village of Bērzgale in eastern Latvia by a Dassault Rafale of the French Air and Space Force flying the Baltic Air Policing mission. The Latvian army did not state the machine's origin but confirmed it had entered Latvian airspace from Russia as a result of Russian electronic warfare. It was identified as a Ukrainian Maya decoy drone.
An Italian Eurofighter on NATO Baltic Air Policing duty destroyed an unidentified drone over eastern Latvia before dawn on 14 August, the second time the alliance's quick-reaction force has shot one down over the country this year.
