Romanian radar tracked five aerial targets over Ukrainian territory near Ismail at 01:27 on 13 August, and one of them crossed into national airspace about two kilometres south of Pardina. It flew along the Chilia branch of the Danube for some ten minutes before leaving towards Ukraine, roughly thirteen kilometres south-west of Chilia Veche; explosions were reported on the Ukrainian side shortly afterwards. Two F-16s from the 86th Air Base at Borcea were scrambled and an alert was issued for northern Tulcea County.
