Moldova's Ministry of Defence said a sound resembling a drone, followed by an explosion, was heard outside the villages of Geamăna and Văratic, in Anenii Noi district, on the night of 10-11 October 2026, during large-scale Russian attacks on Ukraine. Residents alerted the police at about 22:20, and emergency teams located the object near Geamăna, where it had struck a tree about 13 metres above the ground, according to Veridica. Police explosives specialists then deactivated its warhead, Veridica reported, and nobody was hurt. The ministry said its air surveillance systems had recorded no unauthorised overflight, and no authority named the drone's type or origin.
