INS Kalinga

INS Kalinga is an Indian Navy station on the Visakhapatnam–Bheemunipatnam beach road in Andhra Pradesh, roughly 40 km northeast of the Visakhapatnam naval base, on India's east coast. It reports to the Eastern Naval Command and is the missile support establishment for the fleet, responsible for the preparation, storage and delivery of advanced missiles to ships of the Eastern Fleet.

The station occupies 734.1 acres and holds a complement of over 900 service and civilian personnel. Co-located units include MARCOS (E), the Eastern detachment of the Marine Commando Force, the Naval Armament Depot Visakhapatnam, the Naval Armament Inspectorate Visakhapatnam, and a Military Engineer Services element. A helipad on the station is equipped for night landings. Support infrastructure comprises married accommodation for officers, sailors, Defence Security Corps personnel and civilians, a sickbay, an auditorium and community hall, a library and reading room, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navy Children School facilities, and sports grounds and courts with a swimming pool.

INS Kalinga was commissioned on 21 November 1985 and has since expanded from an armament establishment into a full station through the addition of the co-located units listed above.
