Brazil Navy Tonelero Delivered

The Brazilian Navy accepted delivery of the submarine Tonelero (S42) at the Itaguaí naval base on 26 November 2025, the third of four Riachuelo-class boats built under the PROSUB programme, Baird Maritime reported; the fourth, Almirante Karam, was launched the same day. The class is a Scorpène design adapted by Naval Group to Brazilian requirements and built by Itaguaí Construções Navais with technology transfer, for anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare and special operations in deep and shallow waters. The first two boats, Riachuelo and Humaitá, were commissioned in September 2022 and January 2024.
