Description
The United States Air Force formally accepted its first T-7A Red Hawk from Boeing, one of five engineering and manufacturing development aircraft built for the flight test programme. Testing was to begin at Boeing's St. Louis facility before the aircraft moved to Edwards Air Force Base for the government test campaign. The T-7A is intended to replace the T-38 Talon, which had trained Air Force pilots since the 1960s, and was developed under a digital engineering approach the service has promoted as a model for future programmes. The planned production fleet runs to several hundred aircraft.
