Description
A T-45 Goshawk jet trainer of the United States Navy crashed near Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas. The pilot ejected safely. Kingsville is one of two Navy strike training bases where student aviators complete carrier qualification in the Goshawk before progressing to fleet aircraft. The T-45 has been in service since 1991 and is approaching the end of its life, with the Navy pursuing an Undergraduate Jet Training System replacement as airframe fatigue and sustainment costs mount.
