Description
The first of four MC-55A Peregrine intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and electronic warfare aircraft arrived at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia, where it joins No. 10 Squadron. Based on the Gulfstream G550 business jet and heavily modified by L3Harris, the Peregrine carries an extensive signals intelligence and electronic warfare suite housed in distinctive fuselage and wingtip fairings. The type gives Australia a sovereign long-range electronic surveillance capability intended to operate alongside the E-7A Wedgetail and P-8A Poseidon fleets across the Indo-Pacific. The programme had run several years behind its original schedule.
