United States Air Force MQ-9 Reaper Shot down

Iran's IRGC Aerospace Force said its air defences destroyed a USAF MQ-9 Reaper over Hormozgan province, near Qeshm Island at the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz, on 14-15 August. The claim came a day after a Washington Post report that the war had cost the US Air Force at least 45 Reapers, roughly a quarter of the fleet, since the conflict with Iran began in February 2026. US officials have not independently confirmed this specific loss. Iranian state media has a documented history of amplifying claimed successes against American drones operating over Iranian territory and the Strait of Hormuz.
