Description
Samandıra Army Air Base is a Turkish Army aviation facility located in the Sancaktepe district of Istanbul. Situated within the Gen. İsmail Hakkı Tunaboylu Barracks north of the Anatolian Motorway O-4, the base hosts the 4th Army Aviation Regiment of the Turkish First Army.
Operational units stationed at the facility include two helicopter squadrons and a headquarters element. The base operates UH-1H Iroquois and UH-60A Black Hawk helicopters. The regiment headquarters also utilizes UH-1H and Cessna T182T Skylane aircraft.
