Description

Sokcho Air Base is located in Sokcho, Gangwon Province, South Korea. During the Korean War, the United States Air Force designated the installation as K-50. Historical operations at the site included the stationing of VMA-121, which operated Douglas A-1 Skyraiders in December 1951. Other aircraft types hosted at the facility during this period included Grumman Avengers.

The Republic of Korea Air Force is the owner and operator of the base. The facility previously supported civilian aviation, but passenger services ceased on April 2, 2002. The installation currently maintains a military role.

Infrastructure at the base includes an asphalt runway and facilities for military aviation support.
