Gimhae Air Base is located adjacent to Gimhae International Airport. Established during the Korean War as Pusan West (K-1) Air Base, the installation historically hosted United States Air Force and United States Marine Corps units.

The Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) operates the base, which hosts the 5th Tactical Airlift Wing. The wing comprises the 251st Tactical Air Support Squadron, the 258th Tactical Support Squadron, and the 259th Tactical Air Support Squadron. The base serves as the home station for ROKAF Boeing 737 AEW&C Peace Eye aircraft.

Aircraft operated from the facility include C-130H and C-130H-30 transports, CN235-100M and CN235-220M aircraft, and UH-60P helicopters. The base maintains a runway dedicated to military operations.
