Vogler Air Base (Fliegerhorst Vogler)

Vogler Air Base, designated Fliegerhorst Vogler, is located in Hörsching, near Linz, Austria. The facility was established following the 1938 relocation of air traffic operations from Linz-Katzenau. Between 1943 and 1945, the base served as a station for several Luftwaffe units, including I./KG 51 and II./KG 51 (Bomber Wing 51), III./KG 76, II./KG(J) 27, and I./JG 52 (Fighter Wing 52).

The installation is a shared-use facility, with military operations centered on the southern portion of the airfield. It houses the second-largest barracks in Austria. The base supports national defense requirements alongside civil aviation operations conducted at Linz Airport, which occupies the northern section of the site.

Infrastructure at the base covers 383 hectares and includes logistics, maintenance, and freight facilities. The airfield is equipped with two instrument landing systems, including Category IIIb capability. Ground facilities include a helicopter landing pad and 16 parking positions for medium-haul aircraft. The base is capable of supporting heavy transport operations and has hosted aircraft such as the Antonov An-124, An-225, and Boeing 747-400F. Dedicated freight infrastructure consists of five cargo terminals and a logistics center. Additional facilities include a general aviation terminal and the AeronautX Luftfahrtschule pilot training center. Emergency response is managed by an on-site fire department equipped with six vehicles and 37,000 liters of water capacity.
