Description
The Kaman-22 is an Iranian wide-body unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) associated with the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) and unveiled on 24 February 2021. Iranian officials describe it as the country's first domestically produced wide-body combat drone, developed as a related design to the earlier Kaman-12. It has a conventional configuration with a single tractor propeller and is presented as broadly comparable in class to the American MQ-9 Reaper.
Iran states that the Kaman-22 has an operational range of approximately 3,000 km (1,900 mi) and can carry around 300 kg (660 lb) of munitions, and IRIAF commanders have claimed it can employ a wide range of ordnance. These performance and capability figures originate with Iranian government sources and have not been independently verified. In April 2025 the Kaman-22 was reportedly offered to the Brazilian military as an ITAR-free UAV option.
