What Happened

Vilnius airport closed for eleven hours after another wave of meteorological balloons launched from Belarus. Lithuanian deputy foreign minister Taurimas Valys called the incident part of "a cynical hybrid attack against our economy, aviation security, and the entire nation". The following day Belarusian officials claimed a drone launched from Lithuania carrying a camera and "extremist printed materials" had landed near Grodno; the head of the Lithuanian manufacturer Granta Autonomy confirmed the machine was one of its Hornet XR models but said it had been modified, and assessed the episode as a staged provocation.
