Three suspected Russian drones overflew the German Air Force base at Annaburg in Saxony-Anhalt, where Arrow-3 anti-ballistic missile systems are deployed. A Bundeswehr rapid reaction detachment launched a drone of its own and made visual contact with one of the intruders, then tried to shoot them down with G27P rifles fitted with Israeli Smash X4 smart sights, without success. The episode became a widely cited illustration of how poorly conventional infantry weapons serve as counter-drone measures.
