K151 Raycolt

Designed by Kia Motors in 2014 with assistance and funding from the South Korean Ministry of National Defense, the K151 Raycolt—also designated the Kia Light Tactical Vehicle—was created to replace the KM420 and KM450 series in South Korean military service. The vehicle was first displayed at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference in 2015. Full production began in 2016, and the vehicle entered service with the Republic of Korea Army in 2017. In August 2023, Poland contracted for local assembly of modified variants designated Legwan.

The K151 is built on a modular 4x4 chassis produced in both short and long wheelbase configurations with single or double cabs. Variant options include standard and armored configurations for command, troop transport, reconnaissance, weapons carriage, cargo transport, maintenance, and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear detection. Powered by a Hyundai 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the vehicle's armored variants integrate Samyang Comtech ceramic and polymer matrix composite armor rated to STANAG 4569 Level 2 or 3. Protection features include bulletproof glass, composite panels, mine-protected flooring, blast-absorbing seating, and gunner shields. Roof mounts on armed variants support manually operated systems or remote-controlled weapon stations capable of carrying 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine guns, 40mm automatic grenade launchers, or AT-1K Raybolt anti-tank guided missiles. An optional 10 kW generator integrated into the powertrain supplies power for mission electronics and onboard equipment.

The vehicle is operated by armed forces in several countries, including South Korea, Chile, Mali, Nigeria, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, and Turkmenistan. The Republic of Korea Army deployed the vehicle on United Nations peacekeeping operations in Lebanon and South Sudan. The Malian Armed Forces have used the vehicle in counter-insurgency operations in Northern Mali, and a Nigerian Army vehicle was captured by Islamic State - West Africa Province fighters in December 2020.
