Description
Guiren Airport, also known as Nanbao Airport, is located in Taiwan. Built between 1936 and 1937 under Japanese rule, the facility was originally constructed as a reserve airfield for the medium-bomber bases situated at Tainan and Gangshan.
The Republic of China Army Aviation operates the installation. It contains the headquarters of the Army Aviation and Special Operations Command, alongside the Flight Training Command. The latter unit was established in 1965 as the Army Aviation Command and Flight Training Center and received its current designation in 1994.
The military reservation covers approximately 90 hectares and encompasses 107 buildings. The Flight Training Command operates a training fleet at the base consisting of AH-1W Super Cobra and AH-64 Apache attack helicopters, CH-47 Chinook transport helicopters, and UH-1 Iroquois utility helicopters.
